Ashes of American Flags-Wilco
This is by no means my favorite song by Wilco, a band despite their widespread appeal and place as one of the last “true american rock bands” holds a deep place in my heart. This is the first song I liked by them before I truly got engulfed into Jeff Tweedy’s (lead singer) heartfelt ballads of misery and discontent.
Ageless Beauty(Most Serene Republic Remix)- Stars
I fell asleep to this song for many years, on nights I can’t sleep to this day I listen to it and it calms me. Dont really know why. Stars is on the Arts and Crafts label which boasts such indie rock giants like Broken Social Scene and others. The compilation “Do You Trust Your Friends?” is Stars remixed by other label mates on the label.
Lets start this in baby steps. In regards to first impressions this song may come off as what is loosely defined as “emo”, frankly I dont care but the disclaimer is necessary when the band is called “Casiotone for the Painfully Alone”. My plan as of now is to post a song a day from one of my all time favorite artists.
